The lock out had me discouraged about hockey, and yet, I had my ear to the local radio chat every day listening for opinions, news anything that may hint at resolution during the outage of the game we love.
There wasn’t much hockey fun to be had then, except it opened some opportunities for the Hoi polloi to have a chance to strap on their skates and do a few laps around the Saddledome ice periodically. I haven’t been on skates for way too many years, but I made sure I got on with each of my jerseys LOL … so now I can think that they have all been worn skating around an NHL rink but, hey, not by a player, but by me lol.
I found ways to have Fun while waiting out the players and suits to get their thing together, spent a lot more time working on my music and guitar playing. I attended Calgary Hitmen games when I felt like a dose of hockey. I’d like to hear how you dealt with it, please note it in the comments section.
I had a blast with the Calgary Hitmen games and still have more than a fistful of tickets left for games I saved up for the final season run, so I’ll be spending a lot of time at the Saddledome as I chose those games before the settlement took place. The Teddy Bear toss, having a chance to “Skate with the Hitmen” after one of the games, and getting a Hitmen jersey signed by almost all of the team were also fun things to do while waiting out the Flames return.
