This was the first game I was able to sit in my new location at the Saddledome for the season – I will be a few rows above the TV Cameras, center ice, a few steps from the entrance from the C-train and only a few stairs so I don’t spill my beer – is it true they’ve switched to Bud at the Dome? OMG I’ll find out tonight, if so guess its just Vitamin Water for me lol. How is it that I can only find the Vitamin Water at the only place I can hardly tolerate the food – Pizza 73 — at least that could offer it where I could get something yummy lol, sure wish they had good pizza at the dome, mind you if I’m desperate their basic cheese pizza is edible.
Well, may have to come extra early, or change my drinks of choice one way or the other. Bottled water always works anyway. Well I’m sure I’ll break down and have a few Bud during the season, especially when its cold I like to stop at Tim’s and have a warm coffee in my hand and enjoy it all the way from Shawnessy to Victoria Park/Stampede Station as I see the C-train cars light up with colourful red attire – not like anything you see on a regular bleak monochrome non-game day in Calgary. When I arrive at the Dome I’m looking for something chilled.
I was on a cruise from Amsterdam to Istanbul when the first few games took place pre-season, but I did take my Flames Jersey with me so I could get a photo to post on the C of Red Everywhere page on the Flame’s Site – I did notice there weren’t any from Istanbul.
The day after I returned home, I went to the Saddledome to fetch my season ticket and an 8 pack (hubby isn’t much of a hockey enthusiast and would rather be playing computer games at game time but does come to a few so we do the 8 pack, I do the season!) – “I asked the ticket person .. so how have they been doing, I just got in from Istanbul?” – at that point they had 2 wins against Vancouver, and um 2 losses against the Oilers it sounded like —
I have no idea what to make of that, well pre-season who knows LOL — well I was looking forward to the following night’s match with the Islanders simply because you don’t see those teams together very often and just happy to sit in the Dome for a game again. I will be sitting in the upper whites for 8 games with Stephen as we do have an 8 pack together but mostly I will be in my regular location.
I’ll be spending the season a few rows above the TV Cameras, I do get distracted by shiny things lol so I hope the viewfinder’s flicker won’t distract me from a puck slipping in the net — but maybe its only a shopping phenomenon I hope.. Being down a few rows lower than last year makes the difference for me between reading the players numbers clearly or vaguely. You have a sports blogger with not great eyesight so if I get accused of that, well, you’re right !!!!
People were lolly gagging getting to their seats and many were trickling in through to the middle of the first period, really – kind of lack luster since its still pre season I expect but for me I was just so happy to see hockey again, and back in the Dome in my Flames Jersey.
I had attended the Islanders game a couple of days after I came back from Istanbul, but still in a Jetlag fog I forgot to bring a charged battery for my pocket camera, and with such a lackluster preseason game, I shall just draw a kindly veil over it and say it was a pleasure to be back with the game going on, mostly looked like the guys were trying out new skates or something, not much was going on at all – it was nice Karlsson got a win 🙂
Time for the game !
Anyone wonder why Tim’s has this honkin’ big sign on the door behind Kip and not a single cup can be found in the dome! Dang they are taunting us! Bring us some Tim’s 🙂 Lol – Oh the dream of a Canadian Maple and a Double Double at my seat ahhhhhhhh LOLOL
On this night, when Kiprusoff was in net, he was in fine form,
but kind of lost his grip a bit right after the Flames got a goal at one point and while it was being announced, one slipped in for the Coyotes, doh, and then shortly after another, but Flames still got a Win against the Coyotes 🙂 …
I’m just doing a bit of catch up here, clearing off my memory stick and gearing up for today’s SEASON OPENER !!!!!!
A happy Thanksgiving Weekend to Everyone 🙂 and Happy Hockey Memories Ahead to you all for the 2011/2012 for wherever you are on the NHL spectrum of teams loyalty – but mostly GO FLAMES GO!
